Must-see sites during your stay in Les Sables-d'Olonne also include the Prieuré Saint-Nicolas and its esplanade overlooking the ocean. This site offers you a magnificent view of the ocean as it crashes against the surrounding rocks and cliffs.

Similarly, the Abbey of Saint-Jean-d'Orbestier, a former Benedictine monastery built opposite the sea, near the L'Océan campsite in Les Sables-d'Olonne, will enable you to discover the originality of its architecture.
You can also visit the Shellfish Museum in the former Post Office hotel. The authentic and prestigious Saint Peter’s Church is a fine example of the neo-Byzantine style, with an interior featuring sumptuous furniture and mosaics, in the centre of the Bouts de Ville district. Don’t miss the Phare de la Potence lighthouse, which is 20.20 metres high and was built in 1874 to the south-east of the port of Les Sables-d'Olonne. For more modern buildings, visit the Maison Palazzo Clementina 1919, Le Remblai, a large seaside villa which shows the emerging wave of eclecticism towards the end of the 19th century.
