Coastal towns not to be missed in Vendée
The Vendée is full of great places by the sea. Discover many coastal towns not to be missed during your stay in Vendée, in particular Les Sables d'Olonne and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, two magnificent seaside resorts just a few minutes from L'Océan Campsite.
Les Sables d'Olonne

Visit Les Sables d'Olonne, which is just 5 km from the campsite, and is probably the most famous seaside resort on the Vendée coast and the 2nd biggest town in the Vendée, after La Roche-sur-Yon.
It is a famous resort on the Côte de Lumière, and offers numerous activities and visits. Lay down your towel on the Grande Plage du Remblai, one of the most beautiful beaches of fine sand. You will find it truly relaxing. Also explore the picturesque landscapes in the surrounding area: dunes, salt marshes, forest etc. There are also many historical monuments and shopping streets, typical of the town.
Les Sables is not just for lazing about on the beach! There are also several cultural and sports activities, in particular water activities. Don’t forget, this town is the starting place of the famous Vendée Globe. It also has places to visit: zoo, museums, casinos, discotheques, fishing port, markets, and numerous restaurants with a sea view. You are not likely to be bored!
Saint Gilles Croix de Vie
15km north of the campsite along the coast, you will reach Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, another famous Vendée seaside resort on the Atlantic coast. It is a lively town all year round whose population greatly increases in the high season as it is so attractive.
The town of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie is particularly renowned for its fishing port and sardines, and offers a wide range of activities and visits. As a couple or with your family or friends, you will certainly find what you are looking for in Saint Gilles.
With its typical districts, marina, magnificent beaches, numerous shops and events throughout the year, the town of Saint Gilles has some great surprises in store for you!

The unmissable Vendée islands
You want to set sail? Why not spend a day visiting the sites on the island of Yeu and the island of Noirmoutier. These islands will allow you to discover very different worlds in both the low and the high season, which will impress you with their authenticity: long beaches of fine sand, wild coasts, cliffs, creeks, salt marshes and remarkable architecture with their white houses with blue shutters.
Access to the island of Noirmoutier is very easy thanks to the Noirmoutier bridge between the mainland and the island, or via the famous Passage du Gois, a 4 km tidal causeway unique in the world which is uncovered at low tide.
Access to the island of Yeu is be from Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie or from the port of Fromentine.
Outing in the countryside in Vendée
Get a breath of fresh air, 10 minutes from the campsite, by visiting the forest and marshes of Olonne.
There you will find the beach, the pine forest and the salt marshes. On foot, by bike or on horseback, explore this exceptionally beautiful countryside!
Hundreds of kilometres of cycle paths
No less than 1,600 km of cycle paths await you for rides with your family or friends, even for kids, to explore the Vendée. An opportunity to take a close look at the different natural environments around the campsite: coast, forest, marshes and bocage.
